Cabbage Stuffed Paratha

     Recipe for Gobhi / Gobi Paratha

Parathas are common among North Indians. These cabbage parathas are healthy and packed with nutrition. It can be served in breakfast, lunch or dinner.

What is Gobhi/ Gobi Paratha?

 Gobi parathas are stuffed with cooked cabbage. Whole wheat flour parathas stuffed with a flavourful mixture made with gobi and other spices is gobhi paratha.

How to make Gobi Paratha

Ingredients

For the Paratha Dough

*2 cups whole wheat flour

*2 teaspoon oil

*water required to knead the dough

*¼ teaspoon salt

For Cabbage Paratha Stuffing

*4cups of shredded or finely chopped cabbage

*1 tablespoon oil

*½ tsp cumin seeds

*1 tsp finely chopped ginger

*¼ tsp turmeric powder

*¼ tsp red chili powder

*½ tsp coriander powder

*1/2 tsp garam masala powder

*½ tsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)

*salt as per required

*cilantro leaves

*ghee for roasting parathas as required

Instructions

1)Making  the Dough

• Knead the dough by adding oil , salt and enough water in the flour so that dough is soft and smooth.

2)Making the Stuffing

• For the stuffing heat oil in a pan and cumin seeds let it splutter then add finely chopped cabbage.

• Then add finely chopped ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder , amchur powder, salt. Mix well.

• Cook it covered with a lid till the cabbage is cooked and water evaporates. Add cilantro and mix.

• Keep the cooked vegetable aside to cool.

3)Making the parathas

• Roll out two medium sized balls from the dough to about big puri size rounds. Try making both the rounds of the same size.

• On one of the rolled dough, place the cabbage stuffing in the center.

• Gently place the second circle on top. Press and seal the edges nicely.

• Dust some flour and Roll the paratha about the size of a normal roti.

• Now on a hot tawa cook the parathas nicely both the sides by applying ghee.
