Recipe for Bread Pakora
Today I am sharing one of my easiest snack to prepare and it will not take more than 10 minutes to prepare (since most of the ingredients are always available in our Kitchen).
My friends and I used to stand amidst long never-ending queues. Some of us used to come early and reserve our places ahead in the queue. While some had acquaintances from other friends in different class, who would let us in the line so as to help us escape cascades of traffic 😄.
Bread pakora is also known as bread pakoda, bread bhajji. It is a popular and tasty snack from the North India. These stuffed bread pakora is also called Sandwich Bread Pakora because there is a potato filling sandwiched between two slices of bread.
They are made for breakfast & tea-time snacks. It is made with bread slices, fillings like potatoes, spices, gram flour batter. These are also served in cafes, dhabas, school canteen & small restaurants.
Monsoons have a special connection to these hot crisp pakoras. They are easy to make, quick, and so delicious, crispy, and deep fried snack that can be enjoyed with chutney and a cup of hot tea .
These stuffed bread pakoras, normally have a potato filling. You can also add so many other vegetables of your choice for the filling like greens peas, corn or paneer. They are then dipped in spiced chickpea batter(besan) and are fried to golden perfection to create the best crunchy pakoras. They can also be made simply like that just by dipping the bread slices in the batter without any filling. You can use white bread or brown bread.
Can bread pakora be air-fried or baked?
How to serve bread pakora?

- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 pinch asafetida (hing)
- 1 to 2 pinches baking soda – optional

Instructions
How to make Potato Stuffing
Boil the potatoes. After it cools down, peel it and mash them well.
Add the chopped onions, coriander leaves, red chili powder, amchur powder, salt to the mashed potatoes and mix them well and set aside .
How to make Batter
In a bowl, take the besan (gram flour) add red chili powder, asafetida, turmeric powder ,baking soda (optional) and salt.
The batter should not be very thick nor too thin. Batter consistency should always be of medium thick consistency that coats the back of the ladle or spoon.
How to Assemble and Fry
Now take one bread slice and cut that bread into 2 triangles.
Take some of the mashed potato mixture and spread it on one of the triangle slice of the bread evenly.
Cover this potato stuffed with another triangle slice. It just looks like potato bread sandwich. slightly press the sandwich.
Now dip the sandwich in the batter to coat it well with the batter.
Coat the stuffed bread sandwich evenly with the batter. If you take a long time to do this, bread will become soggy and break. So don’t take too long.
Fry in vegetable oil on a medium heat till they are golden brown.
Serve bread pakora with tomato ketchup or chutney of your choice.
Wow. Delicious 😋
