How to Sautee mushrooms?

The first step is to choose your mushroom variety. I typically use the standard button white mushrooms, but you can use other varieties such as oyster or shiitake. The mushrooms get cooked with butter, salt and pepper until tender, then fresh garlic gets stirred in towards the end so that garlic is not burnt.

Some Tips for making perfect sautéed mushrooms

Cut mushrooms into thick slices since it is easier to eat that way and  it  also helps  for caramelizing if mushrooms  lie flat on pan, but you can leave your mushrooms whole if you prefer.

The mushrooms will release a lot of liquid when cooked . But if you wait for sometime that liquid will evaporate off and after that the mushrooms will get that great caramelized exterior.
I add the garlic towards the end of the cooking time so that it doesn’t burn.
