Lemon Quinoa Recipe


Quinoa is a whole grain that is rapidly growing in popularity due to its many health benefits. I am sharing this recipe which I often make when I crave lemon rice.


Why  is quinoa  so popular?

The popularity of quinoa has grown steadily over the years , because of its health benefits which has its own  subtle flavor and fluffy texture. It’s being widely used in weight loss diet by everyone.


This easy to make quinoa dish is the definition of using simple everyday ingredients to create a comforting meal with elaborate and satisfying flavors.


Is quinoa good for losing weight?

It has a similar texture to the rice and  is considered better than  rice because Quinoa is rich in both fiber and protein, contains  higher nutritional values. Quinoa helps in weight loss diets by substituting  them with high carb grains.

How to make Lemon Quinoa


Ingredients for Lemon Quinoa

 1 tsp oil

1 tsp mustard seeds 

1tsp split chickpeas 

1 tsp tsp split black gram dal

1 dry red chili

1 to 2 tbsp peanuts

1 green chili

 1 string curry leaves

1/2 tsp turmeric powder 

1 cup quinoa

salt to taste 

2 tbsp lemon juice

coriander leaves for garnishing 



Instructions  for Lemon Quinoa

  1. Place the quinoa in a bowl. Wash the quinoa 2 to 3 times  and strain it.
  2. Dry roast quinoa  for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Then add the water to it, cover and cook for 15 to 20 min or well cooked and turn off the heat .
  4. If there is still liquid, it needs to be cooked a little longer.
  5. Next heat oil in a small pan for tempering. 
  6. When the oil is hot add  mustard seeds ,split chickpeas ,split black gram dal, dry red chili, and then peanuts and fry for a while till peanuts change color to little golden brown.
  7. Then next add green chili and string of curry leaves ,turmeric powder and mix everything nicely
  8. Next Add it to  boiled quinoa
  9. Add salt to taste and lemon juice and coriander leaves for garnishing and mix everything nicely.
  10. Fluff it with a fork.
Total Time -30 minutes 

Servings -2 to 3
